Paritätisches Bildungswerk (PBW)

The PBW is a non-profit organisation developing and providing general and vocational programmes of further education for the social sector. It is a registered society and in theoretical and practical questions closely cooperating with its umbrella organisation, the PARITÄTISCHE Wohlfahrtsverband Landesverband Nordrhein-Westfalen e.V. Among other courses, the offer includes courses in social management, job-related counselling and therapy courses, special programmes for educators and so forth.

The target groups of these courses often consist of fully employed or voluntary employees who work in different fields of social work, youth care or adult education. Through its cooperation with the Wohlfahrtsverband, the PBW has access to approximately 2800 organisations, all members of the PARITÄTISCHE in North Rhine-Westphalia.

Currently, 23 qualified pedagogic staff members, as well as about 200 part-time teachers and four office workers are employed by the PARITÄTISCHE Bildungswerk. Each year the course offer of the PBW attracts about 55.000 participants and the courses in further education are taught in 70.000 lessons as well as 30.000 participation days.

Project management

Since 1997 the PBW takes an active role in Europe and supports the process of European integration by participating in several EU-projects. As coordinator of projects and project partner we have substantiated experiences in the field of German and European project management.

We are interested to enlarge the professional exchange in all educational areas. We like to cooperate with training organisations and we are interested in building up new networks with any other type of organisation
